The past year has been the advent of intimate wedding set up. Its becoming more popular to hold the ceremony at a chapel than the usual church we have seen before.
A Capella is an italian phrase meaning ala chapel or in chapel style. Soft, intimate, sacred, full bodied sound surprisingly produced by just four people, these are the characterists of a four-part harmony group or popularly know as a capella.
Like a String Quartet, the members of the group have certain parts to sing to complete a harmony. The bass gives a drone and full sound almost dictating what chords are to be used, the Tenor and alto usually sings the counter tempo, the saw in a see-saw in layman's term, and of course the Soprano singing mostly the melody. I say mostly but not everytime.
Next time you listen to an acapella, try following the melody and you would notice that it moves around the group.
